First and foremost, I appreciate that each student has a different background, goals, influences, habits and learning needs. There is no cookie-cutter, one-size fits all method for learning the guitar. My guitar lessons focus on teaching directly toward the students interests, building new skills each session on the solid foundation we created in previous lessons. By using a step-by-step approach based in the music you love, you will build both a strong understanding of the instrument and a large repertoire.
Most adults want to learn to play the songs to which they love to listen. That’s a great approach, however many lack the discipline to learn the entire song on their own, instead learning their favorite part and skipping everything else. I like to use my guitar lessons to push students to learn a piece in it’s entirety, coaching them through the more difficult or less familiar sections. That way when they go to perform a piece for a friend, family member or just the dog, they can entertain their audience with an entire song!
Other adults already have some background on the guitar and are looking to take their skills to the next level. This requires a teacher who can quickly assess a students current level of development and come up with a strong guitar lesson plan to build on the student’s foundation. As a Berklee graduate, I have a deep background in wide variety of styles including rock, pop, jazz, funk, blues, solo guitar, fingerpicking, and much more. In my decade of teaching experience, I have developed the ability to draw on this knowledge to create a concise effective lesson plan.
To better accommodate adult lessons, Primeau Guitar Studio offers a quiet, relaxed, one-on-one atmosphere. Students will not have to deal with noise from adjacent lesson rooms or a claustrophobic learning space. My studio is spacious and filled with all the necessary equipment and resources needed for a great guitar lesson. I bring my love of music to each guitar lesson, which hopefully rubs off on the student. My aim is make my student love playing the guitar as much as me!
